so first of all, I have these BEAUTIFUL calico cats...
yup. Take a gander at these beauties.
My cats have developed 2 names... kind of like Beyonce's "Sasha Fierce" alter ego name.
Sweetheart's: Kitty Holo
MeeMoo's: Kitty Nana
Kitty Holo came from my younger cousin. When she was even younger
she use to call the cartoon "Hello Kitty", "Kitty Holo". Not sure
why...kids will be kids. SO, my brother, weird as he is, started
calling Sweetheart, our brand-new kitten at the time, Kitty Holo... and
it stuck. BUT, let me make it clear that before she came to us she was named Sweetheart, no Kitty Holo quite yet.
We got MeeMoo about 6 months after Sweetheart.
We got these kittens from my aunt. Her cat was clearly sleeping
around, getting pregnant and doin' what non-spayed, female cats do. My
aunt had this whole litter of kittens and she didn't want to keep all of
them. I remember playing with her first litter of kittens... SO
PRECIOUS! (I was actually there the night Bella, the mother, went into
labor.) I wanted one so bad, but I really wasn't setting my heart on
getting one because I really didn't think it was going to happen. So
what happens? As the kittens slowly got taken away by other friends and
family, there was cute, little Sweetheart left. We never actually
agreed to take her, it was my aunt who brought her to our house with
kitty litter, a litter box, a kitty bowl, food, and her collar with our
address already engraved on it. She was ours.
She won our whole family over very quickly. It was quite amazing. My dad
was soooo not into the idea of having a kitten, but it only took a
couple of days and he was sold. All 3 of my brothers loved her, even
the one who is clearly a dog person. My mom has always been allergic,
but by some miracle, this cat didn't bother her. My sister who
did NOT like cats (due to past "bad experiences" in her words) came to
love Sweetheart like all of us. Then there was me...I was born a cat
person.
so about 6 months later mi familia found themselves with another fur
ball running around...little miss MeeMoo (at the time she was
nameless.) She was part of the second litter of my aunt's cat, so that made her
Sweetheart's sister. I was away at college band camp when she arrived, but I
received countless pictures on my phone. She was the smallest,
clumsiest, silliest little kitten ever. When I came back home for Labor
Day weekend, I met this little kitten as an official member of the
family. She stayed in my room that night, and she was so...annoying!
Of course, you can't really get that mad because she was so freaking
adorable. It was probably 6 or 7 in the morning and she was crawling
all over me, nipping my toes and arms, and biting my hair. When she
would sleep, she'd sleep right up next to you, or...on you. She was
adorable. It was my brother Andrew who finally named her. It was a mystery to me of what her name was until a couple days after she was officially named. One of my friends on Facebook told me that my kitten was named MeeMoo...... I'm going to be honest and say that I was not a fan at first. But then I went home from college for break, and the name definitely grew on me, and it's so fitting, SO fitting. It's perfect :)
Now Sweetheart was still so perplexed by this new creature. They kept
Sweetheart and MeeMoo separated a lot of the time because Sweetheart
always looked at MeeMoo like she was her prey....kinda freaked me out. I
didn't want to see Sweetheart maul this innocent little soul...and she
most definitely could. MeeMoo was brave though. When they were
together and Sweetheart batted at her, MeeMoo would fight right back, at
times she even initiated the fights. My family would let them
play-fight, but when it looked like Sweetheart was getting too
aggressive, they'd take MeeMoo away.
Of course now they get along quite well,
but they are 2 totally different personalities, and it cracks me up.
MeeMoo is built, and kinda chunky (but still so extremely adorable and
favored by most of my family) and she has these big, round, innocently curious eyes. She
has gorgeous markings and coloring with more orange than Sweetheart.
Both cats are entirely too curious, but I think MeeMoo is the most
curious. Anytime you're doing some kind of activity, she'll come right
up to you and investigate. I was making a bracelet and she came into my
room with her big eyeballs, climbed all over me, smelled the bracelet,
and started biting at my string. I just smile...she is just too cute and innocent. She's naive, and she's so trusting to everyone. Someone once told me that she would never survive in the wild,
as she lay there sleeping (something she is a master of.) She's not as
sleek and lithe as Sweetheart, and she has this "beauty mark" near her
mouth that cracks my mom up.
Sweetheart is so small and skinny compared to other
cats. She's graceful, smooth, sleek and sooo pretty. She is a
natural-born predator, ( she killed 2 mice when she was still only an
"innocent" little kitten.) As a youngster, she was seriously the poster
child of "kitten". She was so CUTE (still is.) One of her front arms is orange striped. I call it
her "tabby arm" and I
love it. Her curiosity ranges from crawling
in bags, drawers, suitcases, and on the pipes in our basement. When
she's about to pounce on something and her pupils are all dilated, my
heart breaks because of how dang cute she looks. She is simply a
beautiful cat. She'd probably be really expensive, but we got her for
$0.00. My friends call her the b*&%# kitty though because she's not
AS friendly as she use to be and she's not AS friendly as MeeMoo. In
pictures she always looks so pissed with that "why-am-I-here" look.
She's not currently fixed, so when she's in heat, her meow is ugly...and
annoying. But ALLLL of that negativity aside, Sweetheart/Kitty Holo
has a special place in my heart. I love that cat. She probably hates
me hahaha, but I love her. She is a magnificent creature.
I could really go on about my cats all day, but it would probably bore you to death. But this post was a
little tribute to them because they are fantastic, silly, adorable, beautiful little cats <3
